In Indiana, a property may become eligible for tax sale when property taxes or special assessments from the prior year’s spring installment remain delinquent.
In LaPorte County, the annual tax sale is typically held in October, with notifications to affected taxpayers beginning in late July. A $220.00 tax sale administration fee is added to the delinquent amount once the property is scheduled for tax sale.
If the delinquent taxes, special assessments, penalties, fees, and other applicable costs are not paid in full by the established deadline (typically in mid-August), the property owner’s name and property information will be published in the local newspaper and on the SRI Tax Sale Services website as part of the required public notice process before the tax sale.
Bidders must register with SRI prior to the sale. You can register by visiting SRI Services
