LA PORTE COUNTY JUVENILE SYMPOSIUM
The La Porte County Juvenile Symposium is an annual event that is hosted by La Porte County Circuit Court and planned by a committee of volunteers who work with the youth and families within our community. Based on data that our county task force collects and the feedback from our Local Stakeholders, a topic for the event is selected and a keynote speaker is invited to attend. The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.
The annual symposium brings an educational component, builds relationships between the different agencies, opens opportunities for new programming to be introduced, partners to collaborate on additional grants, recruits volunteers, and highlights the work that has been implemented, along with future projects/programming that are being developed. During our Silver Symposium, marking the 25th year LaPorte has hosted this event, we highlighted programs (such as Youth Wellness Court, NOVA, and Teen Court) that many within our community were unaware of.
If you are interested in attending our annual Juvenile Symposium in the future or would like to volunteer in these events, please feel free to contact the Director of Juvenile Court Services, Tyler Washluske ([email protected]), or our Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative Coordinator, Rachel Hartnett ([email protected]).
