** Fourth-Generation, Family-Run Spectacle Company Highlighted for Employment Opportunities at March 16 Commission Meeting **

(LaPorte County, IN): At the LaPorte County Commissioners’ meeting held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, the LaPorte County WORKS! business report presented the Sammann Company / Peepers, a family-run spectacle company located in Michigan City.

“Bringing new businesses to the community is critically important to maintain strong economic growth, but it is just as important to maintain relationships with and assist already-existing companies within the community. Because of this, we invite our local businesses to reach out to our office to schedule time for a business retention visit to see what LaPorte County can do for your company,” stated Mike Seitz, IOM, Business Retention Manager, LaPorte County Office of Community and Economic Development.

“We are proud to showcase employers who take pride in the positive work environment they offer their employees. Peepers, for example, has been named the best place to work in the State of Indiana for four years, and we could not be prouder to have them right in our county. We hope to continue to highlight local businesses and industries so citizens of all ages and skill sets know they can find a job, grow their careers and earn a good living right here in LaPorte County, including companies like the Sammann Company / Peepers. I applaud the entire Samman family, its’ world-class employment team and their commitment to Northwest Indiana, LaPorte County, and Michigan City. One hundred fourteen years old and still growing! We salute you Peepers,” stated Commissioner Sheila Matias.

“Peepers is truly a unique, niche company that offers tremendous opportunity. At well over 100 years old, the Sammann family and Peepers will feel more like joining a family then it will feel joining a manufacturing and distribution company,” added Tony Rodriguez, Director of LaPorte County Community & Economic Development.

Past spotlights of the LaPorte County WORKS! program include Filtration Plus Inc., Vanair, and Sims Meats. All highlights and local jobs available are featured on the county website at laporteco.in.gov/boards-commissions/laporte-county-works/.
