La Porte County Council Approves Final Economic Revitalization Area Resolution
***Corsicana Mattress Manufacturing Makes La Porte County their Newest Home***
(La Porte IN): On September 28th2020, the La Porte County Council unanimously approved the ERA Resolution that will support a graduated property tax relief measure for Corsicana Mattress Manufacturing as they expand to La Porte County.
“We are excited to be passing this resolution after such a hard year from the COVID pandemic. This is the good news this council has been eagrly waiting to announce and are happy to have been part of this process. Our Council’s ability to expedite and pass a tax abatement has shown the community how much we value our businesses and the services they provide here. Today shows once again that La Porte County is truly the intersection of industry” stated Randy Novak, La Porte County Council President.
“La Porte County has been incredly welcoming from our first introduction. I have helped to open manufacturing plants all over the world and am happy to have chosen La Porte County for Corsicana’s new home. We saw the entire La Porte County team work together to help us make this move as seamless as possible. We could not be more happy with our choice to expand here.” stated James Booth, Chief Operating Officer Corsicana Mattress Company.
With the expansion of Corsicana to La Porte County, 350 new manufacturing jobs will be made available to residents from all over Northwest Indiana. Their temporary location in Michigan City will move to Pinola once complete with the renovation of their 160,000 squarefoot facility in January of 2021.
“Since expanding the mission of the office for Community and Economic Development, we have worked to market not only our location but the people who make La Porte County so great. More and more, we are seeing success in creating a sense of place and improving the quality of life for La Porte County citizens and today hails another success for our fine County.” stated Dr. Vidya Kora, LaPorte County Board of Commissioners and member of the LaPorte County Redevelopment Commission.
“Each and every site selection search takes on it very own tempo and with Corsicana we knew immediately that time was of the essence,” stated Tony Rodriguez, Director for LaPorte County’s office of Commuity & Economic Development “With this manufacturing expansion project we are not only boosting our local economy but creating a more vibrant and work ready community”, concluded Rodriguez.
