LA PORTE COUNTY RESIDENTS:
The La Porte County Emergency Management Agency has worked with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) to conduct damage assessments of properties throughout La Porte County, resulting from the storm on July 15, 2024. The purpose was to learn if the amount of damage exceeded thresholds, which would allow assistance to citizens who experienced damage. The assessments revealed that La Porte County was affected by continuous storm damage that originated in Porter County which allows some citizens access to low interest loans and other possible aid.
A Disaster Loan Outreach Center has been established so residents of Porter and La Porte Counties can obtain information on how to get assistance.
The center will be located inside the Porter County Library located at 103 Jefferson Street in Valparaiso. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. CST) and Saturday (10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. CST). The center will be in operation from Monday August 12th through Tuesday, August 27th. Citizens can report to the library’s information desk. From there, they will be directed to the appropriate room.
