REGISTERING TO VOTE

As of July 1, 2010, Indiana residents can now register to vote online. Visit Indiana Voters.

You may register to vote in both the primary and general election if:

  • You are a citizen of the United States
  • A 17-year old may register to vote if they will be 18 years old by the general or municipal election. A person who will meet the age requirements by the date of the next general or municipal election may register to vote even though they do not meet the age requirement at the time of registering. (IC 3-7-13-2)
  • You will have been a resident of your precinct for 30 days before the election and you are not currently in prison after being convicted of a crime

If you are homeless or have a non-traditional form of residence such as a shelter or RV, you may register to vote.

In Indiana you do not declare a party affiliation when you register. No other person may register for you.

As of July 1, 2001 anyone wishing to vote MUST give their 10 digit Indiana drivers license number or if you do not have an Indiana drivers license, you may give the last four digits of your social security number or your ten digit Indiana identification card number.
